Spring Tour 2012!

This weekend, March 31 and April 1, the Hyannis Sound will be making our 17th anual trek to the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. As always, the shows will feature not only current members of the group, but also favorite alumni from years past, as well as (possibly) some brand new group members.

The first performance will be in Woodstock, VT, on Saturday, March 31 at 7:30pm. The Universalist Church directly off the Green will be hosting us for the umpteenth year in a row, and Lebanon High School's Superlatives will be opening up the concert with a few songs of their own.

The next day, Sunday, April 1, we will be performing in the Lyme Congregational Church in Lyme, NH. The church is directly on the green. Hanover High School's groups, DaChords and Hilights, will be opening up the show at 2:00, before we sing our usual set.

The Facebook Event for the show can be found here.

We could not be more excited for Tour! It is always one of the highlights of the year, and is a great way to know that we are all one step closer to summer. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Introducing Hyannis Sound 2012!!

The Hyannis Sound boys spent the weekend in Boston, soaking up the beautiful sunshine and listening to many extremely talented singers audition. We heard around 75 auditions in total and had a very difficult decision to make given how deep the pool of auditionees was. At the end of the day, we could not be happier with our decisions! Without further ado, the new members of the Hyannis Sound are:

Daniel Spector - Daniel is a senior at Yale, where, after taking a year off to sing with the Whiffenpoofs, he has re-joined his old co-ed group, "Mixed Company." He has a smooth baritone voice with some blue-sy grit in it when he reaches his upper register. He is a wonderful, talented musician and arranger, and he played the cello classically for 14 years. Check him out singing "Home" here.

Jared Suresky - Jared is a senior Economics major at the University of Rochester where he sings with the Midnight Ramblers. He is an awesome T1 who absolutely floored us singing Queen at auditions. He can both arrange and beatbox, and, for someone with such an incredible ability, is one of the most modest people we have ever met. He is sure to be an instant hit with audiences on Cape. Check him out singing "Somebody to Love" here.

Liam Fennecken - Liam is a junior Musical Theater major at Penn State where he sings with Jim in the JoePa's. Liam has an absolutely incredible belt. He wowed us at auditions when he sang a beautiful Sara Bareilles song in the original key. Liam is a wonderful T1 and will be an excellent addition to our arsenal of tenors. Here is Liam, on the left, singing the Hyannis Sound arrangement of "Eenie Meenie."

Noah Berg - Noah is a senior Music major who also sings with the University of Rochester's Midnight Ramblers. Thank you, Rochester! He served two years as the Music Director of the Ramblers and now acts as their General Manager. He has perfect pitch, can beatbox, and has arranged over 100 songs in the last two years. Noah's confident tenor voice and enthusiasm for music will endear him to fans on Cape.

In addition to our amazing new members, Andy, Brandon, Colin, Kevin, Marc, and Mike Hubbard will all be returning to Hyannis this summer. We are incredibly excited to get singing on Cape and could not be more thrilled with our new additions this year! Get ready for a summer that's going to knock your socks off!

Auditions are less than a week away, and boy, are we excited! To everyone who has already signed up, thank you for interest! For anyone else still interested in auditioning, be sure to contact Colin at colin.hyannissound@gmail.com as soon as possible. Send him your name, voice part, year in school, group (if you're in one), phone number, and e-mail address, as well as your preferred time to audition. He will try his best to accommodate you.

Auditions this year will be held at Boston University's Mugar Library, 771 Commonwealth Avenue. We will be on the second floor, so just follow the music and you'll be sure to find us! Remember to have two songs prepared to sing a cappella, and we will perform a range check and teach you part of one of our arrangements.
